Academic Advising information
Do you need to find out who your advisor is?
Log onto My Missouri State, then on the left side of the page click on the link to Student Records.
From this page you can find out who your advisor is, with a link to email your advisor, what your student id (M#) is, what your major/minor is, what your degree is, and where you can review your advising notes and releases.
Do you need to be assigned an advisor?
Please contact the Academic Advisement Center or the Art + Design Department Office.
Do you need to make an appointment with your advisor?
Refer to the list of our faculty contact information and please contact your advisor directly either by phone or by email.
Are you having trouble contacting your advisor?
Please allow time for your advisor to get back to you. Some of our faculty are not on campus every day. If you have waited a reasonable amount of time and are still having trouble getting a hold of your advisor, you may contact the Art + Design Department Office.
Are you an evening student?
If you need to meet with your advisor after 5pm, please send an email to set up an appointment. Email addresses can be found on our faculty contact information page or refer to your Student Records on My Missouri State.
Are you a new transfer student?
Need help with re-evaluating how your art classes transferred?
Make an appointment with the assistant department head, Sharon Harper at 417 836 5110. Please bring with you to your appointment a copy of the class syllabi and, if it is for a studio class, please bring examples of your studio work from the class (originals or in pdf format).
Do you want to know what classes are required for your degree program?
Art + Design Degree Program and General Education Worksheets are tools for each degree program. They can be downloaded and can be printed out to assist you in deciding what classes to enroll in or talk to your advisor about. However, you should be aware that your general education degree requirements are found in the university undergraduate catalog and are in effect when you first attend the university. Your major requirements are "locked in" from the catalog in force during the semester that you are admitted to your degree program.
