BSEd in Art Education Program Mission

The BSEd in Art Education is a teacher-training program in which students learn how to understand, motivate, and engage K-12 learners in the study and appreciation of the visual arts. The program lays the groundwork for an in-depth study of classroom management and innovative teaching strategies. Students gain knowledge of global, historic, and cultural perspectives in contemporary art education practices, develop a broad range of studio making skills, and pursue their own creative endeavors. The Art Education curriculum culminates in teaching practica, whereby students attain experience and the professional competencies required for certification.
