Art and Design Department Reopening Plan

Updated 9/5/2020

The Art and Design Department Reopening Plan operates in conjunction with the Reynolds College of Arts and Letters Reopening Plan and University-wide Response updates and shall be followed as detailed herein. Any changes made to this plan that are necessary due to environmental conditions shall supersede any previous version. Faculty and staff are encouraged to review this information as often as they deem necessary.

Goal

The goal of the MSU Art + Design Department Reopening Plan is to facilitate the academic process for faculty, students, staff, and others. The plan is specific to Brick City. Because the university is utilizing a decentralized approach to reopening, other MSU buildings will have different plans. It is incumbent on individuals to learn and follow any and all specific reopening plan(s) for buildings that they may need to utilize.

Source

The MSU Art + Design Department Reopening Plan shall follow guidelines issued by the Springfield - Greene County Health Department or the university in effect at any point in time. This policy is in effect beginning at 12:01 AM on June 1, 2020 and will remain in effect until written notice of its termination is made public.

This policy is necessarily fluid and may be updated at any time to reflect changing environmental conditions.

Policies and guidelines

  • While on Brick City premises, all individuals should practice social distancing, possess and use hand sanitizer as appropriate, and comply with the approved Return-to-Campus plan.
  • In addition, each individual must wear a face mask at all times.

  • The face mask must be worn properly and cover mouth and nose and follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. If an individual has a medical condition or concern that they believe prevents them from wearing a mask or other face covering as required by this policy, they may request an accommodation consistent with university policy. For more information, please refer to the university’s Employee or Student Disability Accommodations Policy and Procedures or contact Julia Holmes, Deputy Compliance Officer, at JuliaHolmes@MissouriState.edu.

  • Individuals eating or drinking may use the covered areas of the perimeter of the outside of Brick 1: additional seating has been provided for use. Correct mask usage precludes eating and drinking within the buildings.

  • At no time shall more than three people be present in the lobby portion of the Art and Design main office.
  • Students desiring access to studio spaces and especially computer lab use outside scheduled class should use the reservation system. Links to reservation forms are available on the Hours of Operations page.
  • Students, faculty, or staff who test positive for COVID-19 or who suspect that they have been exposed to the virus should complete the COVID-19 Reporting Form

Any variation in this Art + Design Department Plan will be communicated by the Department Head as soon as possible and include a written rationale for any change.

Monitor and follow local health and university orders and guidelines

All Springfield-Greene County Health Department orders shall be followed as well as all university guidelines. In addition, whenever the university releases guidelines pertaining to the wearing of masks, those guidelines must be followed, as well as all other university policies that might be developed over time. If you have questions about building access, please contact the Department Head.

[Note: All guidelines and orders shall be observed at all times.]
