Why study printmaking?

  • You'll join a road to success. Several of our students have been accepted to prestigious MFA programs throughout the country due to their knowledge in the four major forms of printmaking: intaglio, relief, lithography and serigraphy.
  • You can learn at the right pace. A limited number of disciplines are covered in each class. You'll have time to become familiar with them and develop an understanding of the forms that compliment your personal ideas and aesthetic goals.

Printmaking

The Printmaking department at Missouri State University is a part of the largest and most comprehensive undergraduate program in fine art in the state of Missouri. The faculty teaches a curriculum that includes Intaglio, Relief, Lithography, Serigraphy and Digital Printmaking.  Enrollment in these courses is restricted to 15-18 students. Facilities include Three intaglio presses, one lithography press, two relief presses, five vacuum serigraphy presses, exposure unit for photo-intaglio, serigraphy, and lithography, a variety of lithography stones, a variety of screen-printing frames, and a Vandercook letterpress. The goal of the Printmaking program is to encourage aesthetic sensitivity and personal expression, impart strong technical skills, promote awareness of visual literacy, and prepare students for a variety of artistic careers. Our graduates pursue a variety of directions such as graduate studies in art, education and employment in fine art printmaking studios.
